Call (760) 705-4010
Bankruptcy Legal Aid Foundation provides limited pro bono Chapter 7 bankruptcy representation to qualifying California residents. Because resources are limited, all requests for assistance are subject to eligibility screening and review.
Before applying, applicants should carefully review the eligibility criteria listed on our website. Our program is limited to individuals who meet strict income, asset, and hardship requirements.
Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee acceptance.
If you believe you may qualify, you may submit an intake request through our website. You will be asked to provide basic information about your income, assets, debts, and financial circumstances.
All information must be complete and truthful.
Submitting an intake request does not create an attorney–client relationship.
Each intake request is reviewed by the Foundation to determine whether the applicant appears eligible and whether the case is appropriate for pro bono Chapter 7 assistance.
Some applications may be declined due to ineligibility, complexity, conflicts, or limited resources.
If your case is accepted, you will be contacted with next steps and additional instructions.
Representation begins only after written confirmation of acceptance.
If your case is not accepted, you may be referred to other resources or self-help options where available.
If accepted, the Foundation may provide assistance with:
Outcomes are not guaranteed, and all representation is provided in accordance with applicable law and ethical obligations.
